Who Kisuke is

Kisuke is one of the first faces of Village in the Shade: he and Komako are the villagers who find the protagonist at the story’s start. Official material pegs him as a carpenter in his early 30s who takes great pride in his trade — NIS America’s own “Meet the Villagers” posts introduced him to western audiences ahead of launch.

Personality (documented)

  • The Stoic — says little, shows less, especially at first (TV Tropes catalogues the archetype from his official profile).
  • His warmth arrives late and earns itself — reviews note he treats the player child “cruelly and standoffishly at first” before coming around.
  • The memorable detail from LadiesGamers’ review: he’s the villager “who uses a lot of swear words.”

Role in the village

  • Carpenter by trade — the building-and-fixing tradesman of Kagatsu.
  • Positioned at the story’s opening alongside Komako, making him part of the player’s first hour.

Raising friendship with Kisuke

The same systems apply to him as to the rest of the cast: gifts, errand tickets, good deeds, and festival participation build affection over the first year. Villagers at affection level 3+ join Patch 1.30’s birthday celebrations. We don’t publish unverified gift-preference tables — his documented arc (cold to warm) is the real guide: keep showing up.
