The physical story so far
- Japan (July 30, 2026): physical Switch and Switch 2 copies launched at retail. The Switch 2 physical version charted #9 in Famitsu’s September 7-13 weekly sales, part of the run to 250,000+ Japanese sales.
- West (October 27, 2026): NIS America’s launch covered all four platforms; physical availability and the Limited Edition are sold through NIS America’s own store channels — see the collector’s edition guide for the $89.99 listing.
- Launch-day livestream and trailer coverage confirmed the simultaneous global rollout.
Why buy physical here
The case for the box
- A hand-painted game with an artbook ecosystem — collectors fit right in.
- Japanese physical copies preceded the western launch by three months; importers should verify language support first (all seven languages ship post-1.30, but import stock may need the update).
The honest caveats
- Updates are the game’s lifeblood (1.05 → 1.30 in three months) — a physical copy is only as current as its patches.
- No multiplayer means no used-copy penalty, but DLC (Spring 2027) is a separate purchase either way.
