The short answer
Village in the Shade is a single-player game with no cross-platform cloud sync between console and PC. Save handling per platform:
PC (Steam)
- Steam Cloud support is listed on the official store page, so saves sync through Steam itself.
- Local files live in your Steam userdata folder for the game — the standard Steam arrangement; if you disable Cloud, keep that folder backed up.
- Patch 1.09 added five backup saves per slot for newly created saves.
PlayStation 5 / Switch / Switch 2
- Console saves use each platform’s own cloud or transfer features.
- The same five-backups-per-slot protection from Patch 1.09 applies on all platforms.
Why backups matter here
A farming game with a story calendar is uniquely painful to lose — a run represents dozens of hours of seasons, friendships, and furniture. Two features protect you:
- Five backup saves per slot (Patch 1.09, new saves only — saves started on earlier versions don’t retroactively gain the full set).
- Auto-save cadence plus manual slots; the game warns during certain story scenes when events won’t trigger (like birthday events on thunderstorm days), which also protects save integrity.
We document what official sources confirm: Steam Cloud support, the 1.09 backup system, and platform-standard save handling. We will not invent exact file paths beyond Steam’s standard userdata layout — if you need to move a PC save manually, Steam’s own backup features are the supported route.
