Village in the Shade has no in-game world map screen in the farming-sim sense; this page is a verified directory of named locations from official material and patch notes. As more locations are confirmed, this page grows.

Around the village

Your farm and home

Granted by town leader Rin. Starts small — a crop grid and a fixer-upper house — and expands through play: more farmland via letter-triggered events, a barn, greenhouse, and the furniture catalog.

The General Store

Your source for seeds, tools, and furniture. Patch 1.30’s Seeder is bought here after you restore the crossroads hokora to stage 3 — it sows seeds, seedlings, and fertilizer across a 3-tile swath.

The crossroads hokora

A small shrine whose restoration stages gate real upgrades (the Seeder among them). In Shade mode, Tobari’s hokora request ties into farmland expansion.

Kiki Construction and Chinana's stall

Construction services for big builds; Chinana’s stall sells the livestock added in Patch 1.20 — Silkie Chickens, Mallards, Fluffy Cows, and Spotted Goats.

Beyond the village proper

The rules say not to leave the village — the map explains why the world beyond still matters:

    • The quarry: the mining dungeon, with floors, holes to the next level, and a mine cart back to the entrance every ten floors. Glass Shards became more plentiful in Patch 1.08.
    • Rivers and the waterfall: fishing spots; waterfall fishing was made more forgiving in Patch 1.09.
    • Hunting grounds: wildlife requiring the right permit (like the Pheasant or Fox Hunting Permit) and the right trap or bait.
    • Night-time Kagatsu: the same village, re-priced — yokai gates, rare upgrade stones, and events that only exist after curfew. See the rules explained.

Getting around

The Dog Whistle unlocks fast travel and is the single most recommended mobility pickup in reviews. The Notebook helps you plan loops between the farm, store, quarry, and fishing spots so you are never caught far from home when evening comes.
