The direct answer
No. Village in the Shade is a single-player game on every platform — Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The official store listing and NIS America’s materials describe a one-player experience; there is no co-op, no online multiplayer, and no announced plans to add any.
Farming sims conditioned players to expect co-op (Stardew Valley, Fae Farm, etc.), so “village in the shade multiplayer” ranks among the game’s most-searched questions. The horror design is also inherently solo — the dread depends on you being alone on the road home after curfew.
What you get instead of multiplayer
Social systems, in-game
- Villager friendship: gifts, errands, festivals
- Birthday events (Patch 1.30) with affection-level-3 villagers
- The village’s social calendar: summer festival, cherry-blossom viewing
Social play, outside the game
- Compare farm layouts and furniture finds with friends
- Community discussion hubs — see our Reddit guide
- Share Sunshine vs Shade mode takes — mode differences
If you want co-op farming
This game will not scratch that itch. If multiplayer farming is the requirement, look elsewhere; if a haunting single-player year in Kagatsu sounds good, start with the beginner guide.
